COMMUNITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Community Health runs both diploma and certificate programmes in community health.
CHEW Programme is a 3 years (6 semesters) programme that leads to the award of a diploma in Community Health Extension Work (CHEW) with the entry qualification of Five (5) ‘O’ Level Credit Passes obtained from SSCE/GCE WAEC or NECO at not more than two These must be chosen from the following:
- Biology/Health Science which must be a Credit pass
- Any one credit pass chosen from Chemistry , Food & Nutrition, Physics and Geography.
- Any two credits passes chosen from Account, Agricultural Science, Commence and Economics
- Two compulsory credit passes in English Language and Mathematics OR The CHEW diploma can also be obtained from advancement of qualified JCEW certificate applicants have acquired two years post-qualification experience, with valid practice license in addition to the aforementioned basic requirements. By this method of admission, it is a 2 years (4 semesters) course.
JCHEW Programme is a 2 years (4 semesters) Certificate programme with the entry qualification of five (5) ‘O’ level Passes which must include English, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science in SSCE or GCE WAEC or NECO at not more than two sittings
MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Technician Programme is a 3 years (6 semesters) course with an entry qualification of Five (5) ‘O’ level Credit passes in Mathematics, English, Chemistry , Biology and Physics obtained from SSCE,WAEC or NECO at not more than two sittings within a space of 5 years. Or admitted candidates must be Holders of Medical Lab Assistants’ certificate who in addition to the requirement above, have acquired two years post-qualification experience.
